Greenwashing ...good?

Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 07:30 PM PST [General]

so the term greenwashing met my vocabulary a few months ago.

The U.S.-based watchdog group CorpWatch defines greenwash as "the phenomena of socially and environmentally destructive corporations, attempting to preserve and expand their markets or power by posing as friends of the environment.

GE does a good job making you think they're pretty darn conscious. I honestly don't know much a bout them but spots like these:

...put you under the impression that they're doing their job at utilizing renewable energy sources. somehow, i feel misguided. more rersearch into GE i shall do, but for now...

"clean coal" ads come to mind that were placed among some of the presidential debates- similar to :

    BUT

all in all, advertising and companies and even people tend to embellish to impress or make a sale. understandable. respectable? not 100% i know i don't like being lied to. but its a step in the right direction. they are aknowledging we, as world's inhabitants needs to change our daily impact.

article with a bit of further perspective on greenwashing

    Greenwashing is a gateway Drug

although i still am hesitant to say that its GOOD- i'm thinking it can be seen as a baby step in the right direction.

speaking of goingin the right direction

    done blabbering now

[thx to lindz for introducing me to this word]

I don't even know what is going on here at this website. feel much overwhelmed am I, yoda would say.

but what does this do? i think this is for rambling silently, where people can still hear you and read your thoughts...? maybe thats what a blog is

anyway, here's one for the rambler, TED is a cool guy. not the person who's the later half of uniTED airlines and for some reason has the same logo as the one I speak of.

    http://www.ted.com/

i'm just subscribed to their videos using Miro's channels, but i'm pretty sure all their seminars are broadcasted online at their site, and on youtube ...

TED is a series of seminars in Monterey Bay, CA depicting some really interesting...unilogue* Just watched an AL Gore clip about what we must do as citizens in addition to taking responsibility of your own footprint.

Al usually aggravates me because he mainly tends to deliver a lot of downpressing info and no means of solution. He does suggest a carbon solution in this though. And its interesting to see him play politician dodging either sponsoring or knocking any presidential candidates.

Dive in there if you wanna get learned. ;)

*Unilogue is a dialogue lacking more than one person.

**Hah. That was a footnote to my brain

    more to taste...

its ok u dont always have to learn>

Well if you ask me every tune has a voice. I suppose you can look under it, above it, around it, and in it. Especially if you have Spongle Goggles!
