    Paddle Faster...I hear banjos

the adventures of Carla & Daniel took us to the river. Although it was already going on 6pm we were determined to make it down the river before dark. Not really knowing how far it was or how long it'd take us. We were off...and might I say not as prepared as we could have been. With floats in the water, the first thing we realized was that we forgot the paddles. Oh well, I looked around, found a stick and decided it would have to do. Ah, look, a paddle in the tree...guess we'll have to borrow it. So now with the floats tied together, the cooler of beer loaded and cigarettes & cell phones safely tucked away in the zip lock baggy, we pushed out into the stream and away we went. 20 minutes to the first stop, we took a break to visit with the SS African Queen docked at Raf's. Back aboard and in a different position on my float we set off down the river wondering if we'd make it to our ending destination before the sun went down. This time we met up with the SS Rusty Irons, he was hurrying his way back up river to Colfax also hoping to arrive before dark. Then there was the red speed boat, throwing rooster tails trying to splash us. Maybe going faster but look at the gas he was burning and probably not having near the fun we were on our powerless vessel. As the beer bottles emptied and were tossed in the back, it sounded as though my boat had a knock in the motor. We arrived at the boat docks, but missed the landing so we pulled into the next slip, tossed the floats on the dock and realized we couldn't climb out. So now to swim back up stream against the current to get out. Oh wait we can touch, oopps just kidding as I end up with a nose full of water running down my throat. Quit laughing, you're using energy you need to get outa the water. As Carla finds a rock to stand on, she yells for Daniel to hand her the other end of the stick (yes I still have my stick) so she can pull me to the edge. Finally we can touch, but it's squishy mud that feels like quicksand, sucking our feet in.....oh the river wants us to stay and play. Promising to come again we were set free to the shore. Now here we are, waiting to do it again.
