Handmade is human-friendly, usually eco-friendly and almost always original! Big business is destroying our country. Capitalism is great! When it's not a monopoly... Small businesses are better for your community socially as well. When people gather in the community, rather it be for get-togethers or dinner or shopping, it's more personal than parking in a huge lot cars and entering a huge building with no windows, to spend the rest of your day buying on impulse. In the small business area, you're more likely to make eye-contact and smile or say hello to someone you hardly know, and if everyone was like that, think of the positive vibe our communities would share! I think about Little 5 Points in Atlanta, GA. There are so many different kinds of people that walk thru there, shopping, hanging out, etc. Some of the shops' prices are high but the atmosphere they contribute to is super awesome!

So think about it next time you go to the part of town where you can park your car and walk from shop to shop or cafe to cafe. Think about it when you say to yourself, "That's overpriced! I can get that at Wal-Mart for 1/2 that!" You're right, you can, but then Wal-Mart owns your soul. In some states, Wal-Mart and other large retailers can now even Eminent Domain your land for their use! So spend the extra few bucks and save our souls!

Also, I read that one of the main reasons gas prices are so jacked up is b/c of "supply and demand" and the country pushing that supply and demand factor is China, who also is a country with very few environmental policies. So stop buying "made in China" stuff too! Or at least be more aware of how much "made in China" stuff you are buying. The more [we] don't buy the less need for oil they will have :D hopefully...

Recycle, Upcycle, Compost.

And stop watching TV! Unless it's PBS..or HGTV ;)
